Your private guide will welcome you to Pokhara. After meeting at Lakeside, we will start the hike following the shore of Phewa Lake. The community of coffee farmers will warmly welcome you and you start discovering the local village and surrounding coffee farms on foot. A local NPO, Sharing Seeds, initiated several community-based projects like Arabica coffee farming, bee farming, and a women cooperative producing home textiles. You will pass by the Sharing Seeds bee farming station and hear about the challenges and benefits of honey production – you should try some delicious local honey.
Meet some of the local women’s cooperatives involved in producing recyclable handicrafts and listen to their stories. Don’t miss to check out their small boutique shop – you might find a lovely handmade bag to take home. On the coffee farm owned by local farmers, you get the chance to exchange the methods and challenges of producing high-quality coffee cherries.
Depending on the season, you will see Arabica coffee flowers blooming, local female coffee farmers during the coffee seedling distribution, or even coffee farmers harvesting the ripe coffee cherries. Your guide will give you access to the drying center and explain the coffee grading process. This fascinating day will end with a delicious local organic lunch served on the coffee farm before your guide takes you back to Pokhara by a scenic drive of 30min- with a bit of luck, the view will include not only Pokhara lake and colorful mustard fields, but also the breath-taking Annapurna Mountain range.
