Astam village is famous for the view of sunset and sunrise over the Annapurna range. You can view the Himalayan ranges Annapurna South (7273m), Machhapuchhre (7059m), Annapurna I (8090m) and Annapurna IV (7525m). It is the perfect destination for short hike around the Pokhara valley where Astam village provides the visitors with a traditional Nepali village experience providing as comfort as home in a rural environment. With an unobstructed view of the Annapurna’s, Astam is a fantastic hiking spot for sunrise. Set your time-lapse camera and sit back with a hot mug of coffee to watch the peaks turn into gold color.

Around 26 km northwest of Pokhara lies Dhampus village (1650m), It is a small village on the hilltop. Everyone who treks to Annapurna Base Camp must go via Dhampus. It is Dhampus from where you can get the best view of Annapurna Region without going to Annapurna. Take the oldest trail to Dhampus which will lead through the forests and several villages. As you walk through the forest you can enjoy the peaceful environment and can occasionally spot various species of birds. The sound of chirping birds and crickets blend to create a soothing music of nature. As you approach Dhampus Village, the view of Annapurna unfolds gradually and by the time you reach Dhampus, we will eventually be able to see Mount Fishtail (Machhapuchhre) and Dhaulagiri to Lamjung.
